Intelligent Machine and System Communication

in the Plastics Industry

Sesotec uses OPC UA Standard for increased productivity and profitability

At the Fakuma 2018 trade fair in Friedrichshafen from 16 to 20 October, Sesotec GmbH in hall B1, stand 1302, especially for the target groups of injection moulding companies and system integrators focuses on metal separators that can be networked in the production environment. The OPC UA (Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture) machine communication standard contributes to the optimisation of processes in the plastics industry, from production through to service, and to the minimisation of time and product losses, and it thus guarantees highest quality and maximum value creation.

What is OPC UA?

Industrial communication through OPC UA provides the required network mechanisms for data exchange between machine components. In the production process this ensures communication that guarantees a smooth production flow and initiates countermeasures in case of errors. Efficient industrial networks and properly functioning automation only can be realised on the basis of communication standards such as OPC UA, because such standards ensure a high level of openness and flexibility.

What is the benefit of OPC UA for injection moulding companies and system integrators?
If in the processes of the plastics industry processing machines such as e.g. injection moulding machines are networked with peripheral machines, e.g. dosing units and metal separators, it can be ensured that the dosing unit feeds sufficient material if the metal detector detects a metal contamination and triggers a reject process. The benefit of OPC UA for injection moulding companies and system integrators is that product quality can be guaranteed because underinjection of produced plastic parts is avoided. OPC UA furthermore improves and simplifies service, e.g. maintenance measures. Machine parameters can be evaluated on cloud basis and are thus available for service engineers in real time.

At the Fakuma 2018 Sesotec also presents proven metal separators for the plastics industry which prevent metal contaminations from reaching plastics processing machines and thus protect tools against clogging and damage. Furthermore, Sesotec also presents the new service packages that ensure best possible preparation in case of malfunctions.

At the trade fair stand experts of the Sorting Recycling Division shall be pleased to answer any questions concerning the latest technologies for plastics sorting.

IFAT 2018 Presentation Platform for Smart Sorting Solutions
Promising future prospects for the recycling industry Schönberg, June 2018 For Sesotec GmbH and their partner company KRS Recycling Systems GmbH, two manufacturers of machines and systems for material sorting, the IFAT 2018 was highly successful. Trade visitors to a large extent came from the intended target group and showed great interest in the machines presented at the trade fair, the FLAKE PURIFIER+ multi-sensor sorting system for plastics recycling, and the new SPEKTRUM SCOPE glass sorting system. Sesotec and KRS used the IFAT trade fair to meet many of their customers and to provide information about product innovations, and also in 2018 were able to again welcome many visitors from at home and abroad at the trade fair stand. The further development of the FLAKE PURIFIER+ multi-sensor sorting system as well as the new SPEKTRUM SCOPE glass sorter obviously were well received by customers. Says Michael Perl, head of BU Sorting Recycling at Sesotec, summarizing the IFAT: ”The fact that plastics recyclers showed

Smart Sorting Systems Made By Sesotec
Modified FLAKE PURIFIER+ plastics sorting system and new SPEKTRUM SCOPE Schönberg, April 2018 At the IFAT 2018 trade fair that will be held in Munich from 14 to 18 May, Sesotec GmbH in hall B5, stand 415/514, will present the FLAKE PURIFIER+ multi-sensor sorting system that now as standard is equipped with a 3.2mm nozzle and valve grid, allows a higher throughput capacity, and is easy to operate with the ”SesoDesk” operating software. As co-exhibitor Sesotec’s partner company KRS Recycling Systems GmbH will be present at the IFAT trade fair stand with the new SPEKTRUM SCOPE glass sorting system. The SPEKTRUM SCOPE among others features a new NIR (near infrared) sensor unit. The modified FLAKE PURIFIER+ multi-sensor sorting system in addition to optimised material infeeding now also features a valve unit with doubled number of nozzles, which ensures higher precision in contaminant separation and a reduced loss of good material. Furthermore, the dust-proof design and the resort track that can be integrated in the FLAKE PURIFIER+

Intelligent Detection of Contaminants in Food At the Anuga Foodtec 2018 Sesotec presents X-ray inspection systems
Intelligent Detection of Contaminants in Food
At the Anuga Foodtec 2018 Sesotec presents X-ray inspection systems At the Anuga Foodtec 2018 trade fair that will be held in Cologne from 20 to 23 March Sesotec GmbH in hall 5.2, stand D010, as trade fair highlight presents the completely new-developed RAYCON D+ product inspection system to trade visitors. With the Intelligent Power Management Software of the RAYCON D+ system Sesotec sets new standards with respect to detection accuracy, application flexibility, and ease of operation. Since metal detectors in the food industry reach their limits when they have to inspect products in metallic packagings, more and more producers and processing companies rely on the advantages of X-ray systems which reliably detect a wide variety of contaminants (metals, glass, stones, ceramics, plastics) as well as other defects (broken or missing products). Sesotec’s RAYCON D+ system surpasses the specifications of internationally applicable standards such as IFS and BRC in part by up to 400 percent and features a rate of faulty detections of

Sesotec With New CEO
Xaver Auer leaves the company at his own request Sesotec, developer and manufacturer of contaminant detectors and sorting systems, reports a change in its corporate management team. Xaver Auer, who joined Sesotec in 2011 in the course of a change of ownership and as CEO is in charge of strategy, sales, and subsidiaries, will leave the company at his own request at the end of February. As his successor Marc Setzen could be won. Marc Setzen was born in Aachen and is 48 years old. He studied chemical process engineering at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences (Dipl.-Ing. / graduated engineer) and holds an Executive Master in Business Administration (EMBA) of the ESSEC-Mannheim Business School (Paris/Mannheim). He last worked as Chief Engineering Officer in the corporate management of the Klöckner Pentaplast Group. ”Xaver Auer has developed Sesotec into an innovative and highly dynamic company. Networked Sesotec Solutions in Friedrichshafen OPC UA (Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture) presented for the first time
Networked Sesotec Solutions in Friedrichshafen
OPC UA (Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture) presented for the first time Schönberg, November 2017 A well-attended FAKUMA 2017 is over, and also this year Sesotec convinced trade visitors with the metal separators presented at the trade fair. At the FAKUMA Sesotec not only maintained existing business relations with customers and partners but also was able to establish many new national and international contacts. The trade fair presence with the new ”Purity matters” corporate claim was a complete success. At the FAKUMA 2017 Sesotec presented metal separators of the PROTECTOR, RAPID PRO SENSE and GF series. These systems reliably detect and separate magnetic and non-magnetic metal particles even if they are enclosed in the granulate, and they thus ensure the quality of plastic products. Injection moulding machines, extruders, and blow moulding machines are protected against damage and clogging, the output is increased, and the amount of rejects is reduced. Metal separators contribute to the optimisation of processes, to the minimisation
