Reduce the Risks with Dust in Production

Hazardous manufacturing conditions caused by excessive dust can create an explosion in an instant – causing irreparable damage.
Plant operators need to be aware of the dry conditions caused by their production facility and proactively avoid hazards from occuring. Many wood and mineral applications create an excessive amount of dust that also contributes to the wear and tear on equipment due to ash and dust buildup, preventing blockages on conveyors resulting in shutting down the boiler.

MoistTech manufactures the diamond standard in moisture measurement and control sensors for both use directly on the production line. Providing the best solution in the industry, our near-infrared sensors can detect moisture levels within your product, allowing our equipment to be a staple for a wide range of sectors and disciplines.

Performance & Stability

Mining production companies are constantly adjusting moisture levels to maintain the quality of their products because small variations & excess moisture in mixes can result clumping, which effects quality and consistency. Too dry of a product can result in excess dust; measuring moisture prior to crushing can control particle size and also provide dust suppression. During the drying stage, in-process measurements ensure optimization and elimination of over drying, which can lead to product that is out of specification, degradation and an excess of dust.

Unsurpassed in performance, stability, reliability and cost of ownership, the MoistTech series of moisture analysis sensors can increase both the quality and efficiency of the manufacturing process. Product quality and consistency are forefront with MoistTech in the development of the IR3000 sensor to accurately provide moisture measurements throughout the process, yielding a consistent, quality product from lab to line that immediately reduces downtime, wasted energy and product loss.

Direct Customer Feedback

“If the moisture rate varies by 3-5% it is almost impossible to consistently make a durable pellet at all. The other factor that moisture directly affects is the amperage of the main drive on the pellet mill. In wood pelleting specifically, if the moisture rate trends upwards the amperage of the motor swings upwards as well. When the moisture rate drops the amperage falls significantly. This bouncing of the amperage rate can have a detrimental effect on the production capacity of the pellet mill. I have seen over a 20% decrease in production rates simply because the inbound biomass wasn’t a consistent moisture, not to mention there is the possibility of plugging the mill. How is this overcome? We have found that by using MoistTech’s IR3000 moisture sensors, we are able to adjust the programming of the dryer system to provide a more consistent biomass moisture rate in real time that directly correlates to a higher production capacity and a better-quality pellet. I highly recommend their system. It is robust, accurate and their customer service has been fantastic.” Nate Harris, President Custom Pelleting Services

Implementing MoistTech Corp technology will help your factory save on energy by preventing unnecessary energy consumption, which can occur due to over-drying or the manufacturing of products not fit for the market. The IR-3000 is strategically designed to ignore material height or color changes while providing a continuous, reliable reading that includes thousands of measurements per second. Real time process control can provide a manufacturer with the ability to make immediate changes without stopping the production line, and provides both energy savings and a potential for increased productivity with lower material losses. The IR-3000 uses the most advanced components allowing installation in multiple locations locations and is equipped with product loss software capability where small gaps, inert material, foreign objects, belt or screw conveyors are removed from the measurement calculation, thus providing the most accurate true moisture reading.

Impacts of Consistent Moisture Monitoring
MoistTech’s near-infrared (NIR) moisture sensor allows to adjust moisture levels on real-time information lowering raw material and fuel costs, providing higher yields, and more uniform products. Moisture sensors are utilized for measurements of moisture in all kinds of ceramic applications which is a critical concern during the production process. MoistTech’s near-infrared (NIR) moisture sensor allows manufacturers the ability to adjust moisture levels on real-time information lowering raw material and fuel costs, higher yields, and more uniform products. NIR moisture measurement is a noncontact measurement that offers clear advantages over the traditional methods, most important being ease-of-use, elimination of hazardous chemicals, and increased efficiency of product testing. With NIR analysis, all manual steps of collecting, drying and accurately weighing samples are eliminated. Continuous monitoring of moisture content provides proactive avoidance of potential issues caused by out of tolerance moisture levels. How/Why controlling Moisture Matters When moisture levels fluctuate, it can cause significant changes to the quality of many ceramic
