Efficient separation technology for foundries

Foundries face the challenge of efficiently separating casting molds and sand cores from cast metal parts. This sand must be recycled.

What is Cast Shakeout and Sand Shakeout?

After the molten metal is poured into the molds and solidified, these molds need to be removed to obtain the finished castings. This process is called shakeout.

Cast Shakeout specifically refers to the separation of casting molds or cores from the cast metal parts. Cores made of materials such as ceramics, which have a different composition than the surrounding sand, are often used. To obtain the final shape of the casting, these cores need to be removed.

On the other hand, Sand Shakeout involves the separation of sand molds and sand cores from the cast metal parts. Sand is commonly used as a molding material in the foundry industry. Once the metal is cast and solidified, the sand molds need to be removed to expose the castings.

RHEtrans for efficient Cast Shakeout

RHEtrans by RHEWUM is an oscillating chute with an unbalanced drive, known for its economical conveying capability and robust, reliable construction. RHEtrans can be flexibly adapted to the specific requirements of the foundry industry. The drive is powered by two counter-rotating unbalanced motors, which are mounted laterally or underneath at an optimal angle to the trough, generating a linear vibration. This ensures high sand transport velocity.

RHEflex for precise Sand Shakeout

RHEflex by RHEWUM is a universal linear vibrating screening machine, ideally suited for Sand Shakeout. With its linear vibration motion, it enables precise classification and efficient recovery of sand particles from the castings. The machine is designed to be robust and durable, capable of withstanding the demanding requirements of sand processing. Easy maintenance and cleaning contribute to maximum uptime and efficiency.

Optimized separation technology for foundries

RHEtrans and RHEflex by RHEWUM provide advanced separation technology for the foundry industry. With their efficient separation performance, they optimize the process of Cast Shakeout and Sand Shakeout and offer numerous advantages.

By combining RHEtrans and RHEflex, foundries obtain comprehensive separation technology tailored specifically to their needs. These screening machines not only provide efficient and precise separation of casting molds, cores, and sand particles, but also improved sand recovery.

Our team is available at all times to discuss your specific requirements and provide customized solutions for your foundry. With RHEWUM, you’re on the right path to optimizing the separation processes in your foundry and achieving maximum efficiency.

Insect larvae - smoothly separated with new processes
Insect larvae separations require high-precision, smooth screening processes that are suitable for keeping living particles alive in the technical process. RHEWUM uses machines of the RHEflex type, among others, for this purpose. The RHEflex linear vibrating screen is used for protective screening and classification of medium- and coarse-grained bulk materials. For these machines, a special process has been developed for a simplified change of PU-panels. In this process, one screening surface consists of three cassettes each, in which PU-panels are fixed. This gives maintenance teams quick and easy access to the screen elements. Screening elements: Special screen linings made of polyurethane For separation, polymesh PU screen panels made of polyurethane are used instead of screen cloths. The abrasion-resistant and cost-efficient polymesh screen panels combine durability with maximum precision. They are ideal for screening fine, abrasive or moist materials. In this way, smooth separation of larvae from the culture medium can be carried out.

Building materials - sieving with finest separations Calcium carbonate is a material that originated from the remains of single-celled sea creatures over millions of years of Earth’s history.
Building materials - sieving with finest separations
Calcium carbonate is a material that originated from the remains of single-celled sea creatures over millions of years of Earth’s history. Today, it is the basis for a range of commonly used building materials, including limestone and dolomite. Finest separations up to 0.1 mm A British customer discussed with RHEWUM ways to renew an aging installation for processing calcium carbonate. Several existing sieving machines and sifters were to be replaced. Fine separations up to 0.1 mm were performed. Setting vibration during operation Machines with direct excitation of the screen fabrics were planned as the machine type. Drives for the decks on which coarser separations were to be performed were unbalanced motors. The decks for fine separations were equipped with oscillating heads that allow the vibration to be changed during operation via thyristor controllers. The machine types of choice were then RHEsono, RHEmoto and RHEfino as a combination of both types. For the task of feeding the material onto the machines, RHEside feeders with lateral feeding were used. Customer requirements were met With

Increased soda production with modern screening machines from RHEWUM
Sodium carbonate is difficult to screen as its hydrophilic properties cause agglomerations. RHEWUM’s high quality sieving technology increases production. Soda ash is obtained from sustainable production sources, such as the processing of wood. Soda ash is an indispensable raw material in partticular for the glass industry, but also used as a bleaching agent in the chemical industry and not least in the lye of Bavarian pretzels. The demand for high-quality soda ash is high. The quality of the soda granulate is significantly influenced by the performance, and thus the quality, of the screening machine in use. Soda ash is considered to be a difficult material to sieve, which easily sticks to the screening mesh and tends to form lumps due to its hydrophilic properties. The screening mesh can quickly become clogged and the entire production come to a standstill. Thus, the reliable supply of soda ash for important industrial sectors, and with it the capacity of soda ash producing plants, depends on the screening machine. With the RHEWUM WA, RHEWUM offers a state-of-the-art screening machine with direct excitation of the
