Customised chain solution for building materials recycling

After more than 10 years of operation, the slat conveyor chain at a leading Swiss construction company needed to be replaced. FB Ketten is known for customised chain solutions and was also invited to submit a quotation.
The customer has a long tradition and attaches great importance to high plant availability. Founded in 1931, the steam roller company has developed very successfully in road construction, civil engineering and tunnelling in the almost 100 years of its existence, operates its own gravel plants and now sees its core competencies in the areas of construction, logistics, environment and digitalisation.

Suitable solution required

Nothing had to be changed in the design, as the customer was satisfied with the service life of the original equipment chain. This project was therefore about a customised 1:1 replacement at a fair cost.
Chain application engineers Daniel Zahnd and Alexander Frankenstein examined the system in detail and submitted a suitable quotation.
The FB employees worked very closely with the plant operators from the initial contact, through the on-site inspection to the quotation and order, and paid attention to the customer’s own experience, wishes and needs.
This is very important for FB Ketten, as no two systems are the same and the operators know their systems best.

Ready-to-install chain solution

FB Ketten has been producing drive and conveyor chains for challenging operating conditions for almost 120 years. A CAT conveyor chain is installed in this building materials recycling plant. This was not an everyday occurrence for the FB chain specialists either, but it was no problem.
Heavy bush conveyor chains for recycling, building materials industry, waste incineration and biomass cogeneration plants, the wood industry and the paper and pulp industry are manufactured in the Group’s own chain factory in Pori, Finland.
The plant operator wanted a complete, ready-to-install solution including support plates, lifetime-lubricated return rollers and elastomer chain tensioners. The split tooth segments also had to be replaced and adapted to the existing hubs. The replaced components were installed by the customer themselves and have been in trouble-free operation since the end of 2019.
