Product launch of UWT’s ultra-compact vibrating fork VN7

UWT Launches New Ultra-Compact Vibrating Level Switch for Efficient and Economical Liquid Detection

Vibranivo VN 7

Betzigau, October 1, 2024 – UWT GmbH, the leading provider in the field of level measurement technology, is launching the Vibranivo® VN 7, a new solution for reliable liquid detection. The vibrating level switch is particularly suited for confined installation spaces in tanks, pipes, bypasses, or containers, while offering high flexibility and cost-effectiveness. The VN 7 enables precise measurements in industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and water and wastewater.

35 Years of Pioneering Development and Innovation

UWT draws on over 35 years of in-house experience in the development of the new VN 7 series. This innovative sensor benefits from extensive expertise, combining excellent industry knowledge, years of practical experience, and continuous product improvement. This is reflected in the impressive range of over 2,000 configuration options, including various thread sizes, hygienic adapters, and temperature versions up to 100 °C or 150 °C. Flange and sliding sleeve options ensure a secure and flexible connection between the sensor and the process environment. Various electrical connections, such as the M12 plug with signal LED, stainless steel versions, or a valve plug, allow seamless integration into existing automation, control, and communication systems.

Compact Design for maximum Flexibility

The VN 7 vibrating fork for liquids is distinct with its ultra-compact design, with a length of just 64 mm in its compact version, making it ideal for installations in confined spaces such as pipes and small containers. For specific requirements, tube extensions of up to 4000 mm are available, while the vibrating tines measure only 35 mm in all versions. Despite its small size, the VN 7 offers high mechanical robustness and can withstand lateral forces of up to 200 N. Additionally, the sensor endures process temperatures up to 150 °C and pressure spikes up to 40 bar, ensuring reliable performance even under extreme conditions.

Independent and Adaptable

The VN 7 vibrating level switch is independent of dielectric constant and conductivity, making it the ideal solution for a wide variety of liquid types. Additionally, the sensor requires no sensitivity adjustments – it can be put into operation without calibration and is immediately ready for use with the ”install and forget” principle. Its encapsulated design protects it from vibration, moisture, and condensation thus ensuring long-term reliability.

Outstanding Value for Money

Thanks to innovative manufacturing methods and a corrosion-resistant design with a seamlessly cast stainless steel 316L housing, the VN 7 meets the highest quality standards while offering excellent value for money. Global certifications such as CE, UKCA, cFMus, WHG, and EHEDG ensure compliance with international standards for safety, environmental protection, and hygiene. This makes the VN 7 an especially cost-effective choice without compromising on quality.

Technology and Quality at the Highest Level

The vibrating fork of the VN 7 is set into vibration at its resonant frequency by piezo elements. When in contact with liquids, the frequency changes, and this change is electronically detected, triggering a switch output. This technology reliably prevents false measurements caused by material buildup, flows, turbulence, or air bubbles, ensuring precise and dependable detection. The sensor is CIP and SIP capable, meaning it can be cleaned through automated cleaning and sterilisation processes in hygiene-sensitive areas without needing to be removed. This functionality saves on maintenance time and ensures continuous, accurate detection.

Versatility and Easy Integration

With a variety of process connections such as threads, flanges, tri-clamps, and DIN 11851 milk pipe fittings, the VN 7 can be integrated into a wide range of applications and systems. It can be used as a full, demand, or empty indicator and is also suitable for detecting overfills and leaks in double-walled containers, tanks, or catch basins. Equipped with an M12 plug, the sensor allows for easy electrical integration. It also features IO-Link communication with SMART SENSOR PROFILE, ensuring modern and efficient data communication.
The VN 7’s signal LED is available in various colours and remains easily visible, even in challenging visibility conditions.

UWT implements level measurement for demanding processes
UWT GmbH has successfully completed a challenging project at one of the largest cement plants in Kazakhstan. The plant operator required a solution for a reliable continuous measurement process in the cement silo. Dusty and particularly harsh conditions prevail in the building materials industry, in quarries or in mining. High demands are placed on level measuring devices - solid sensor technology with uncompromising robustness and unrestricted reliability are therefore of the utmost importance. The significant challenges in this project lay in the extreme environment - characterised by high dust formation, lump formation, and high process temperatures. In addition, the installation of the sensor required it to be mounted on an existing, high set nozzle. Electromechanical lot system The NivoBob® electromechanical lot sensor was successfully used for permanent level measurement within the silo. The UWT lot system was the first choice for this, as it can be adapted to specific installation requirements thanks to its modular design and its wide range of configuration options. At the Kazakh plant, the tape version of the NivoBob® - NB 3200 was used as the resilient solution,

Complete monitoring in a waste incineration power plant in England
Rotary vane sensors and radar sensors for complete control in the Waste-to-Energy Power Plant In a beautiful part of the UK, a waste-to-energy plant required a complete level control solution across the site. The Challenge In order to streamline the whole supply chain process for this, the customer sought one supplier who could provide a one-stop source of advice, expertise and products. The UWT UK team was able to do this by establishing a trusted relationship with the customer giving them security and certainty and of course total efficiency throughout the consultative process through to device installation. The Solution The whole application involved identifying the right products for both continuous and point level monitoring throughout the plant. For the point level measurement of fly ash within the filtration systems, various bespoke configurations of the Rotonivo® - RN 3002 rotary paddle level switch and the Mononivo® - MN 4030 vibrating rod were installed for the point level measurement of fly ash in the filter systems. It was important for

Quality pays off: 12 months of uninterrupted process operation
UWT’s rotary paddle level switch ensures a reliable process in peanut butter production: UWT’s RN6004 eliminates frequent sensor failures and reduces downtime and costs One of the world’s largest peanut butter companies, with a production plant in Kentucky, was having issues with their level measurement sensors installed in the production area of their plant. To solve the problem, the Rotonivo® rotary paddle sensor was introduced, which significantly improved operational efficiency and reduced plant downtime. Once again, UWT has demonstrated its experience and commitment to providing innovative solutions to the industry. Malfunctions and high costs At their production plant in Kentucky, the peanut butter manufacturer had been dealing with constant problems with their measurement sensors. The rotary paddle sensors by another brand that they had previously installed had a very short life span, often failing within a day. Eliminating high levels of downtime The main problem that was causing the sensor to break down was salt and sugar build-up around the probe shaft, which the motor was unable to remove. At the same time, these
