Process monitoring: recipe for success for high-quality bulk solids What do customers in the food, chemicals, plastics, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, animal feed and building materials industries have in common? They all expect high and consistent product quality from their powders, granulates and bulk solids. In order for manufacturers to deliver perfect results, two constants are required: safe processes and reliable systems. However, blind trust is not enough here - control in the form of continuous monitoring is better. In the bulk solids industry, efficiency, safety and, above all, quality in the processing and handling of granular or powdery materials are crucial. However, the plant operator only knows whether everything is really running smoothly if he regularly monitors the process and plant. In the past, he was largely dependent on manual sampling and visual inspections. Technicians had to carry out regular inspections to check the condition of the components and identify potential problems. Today, thanks to automation, the

Protection of screw conveyors in the recycling sector
Good wear protection is important because the materials are often abrasive. Conveyor screws play an important role in various recycling processes and offer efficient solutions for transporting and handling materials. Good wear protection is important because the materials are often abrasive. The selection of wear-resistant materials depends on various factors, such as the material being conveyed, grain size and conveying speed. Our KALOCER aluminum oxide ceramic is often used. It protects against extreme abrasive wear, promotes sliding and is characterized by a very high operating temperature. It is also corrosion-resistant and can be manufactured precisely in thin walls for a weight-saving overall lining. KALMETALL hardfacing welding is extremely impact and abrasion resistant and is used to produce long-lasting conveyor screws. Kalenborn uses the wear-resistant material to manufacture the screw flights and the shaft. The variety of our own wear-resistant materials enables us to produce the right lining for every requirement.

Fully automatic copper recycling feeding system SKAKO has developed a copper recycling feeding system in cooperation with one of their customers.
Fully automatic copper recycling feeding system
SKAKO has developed a copper recycling feeding system in cooperation with one of their customers. The system is fully automated and consists of a Lift Tipper and a Vibration Feeder that feeds copper material into two separate melting ovens. On a given signal from the FV-feeder, the Lift Tipper fills recyclable material from a container into the feeder. The melting oven has a load cell and is able to signal to the FV-feeder for more material when it reaches a preset minimum weight. The FV-feeder will then move forward towards the oven on its rails and start the material discharge. The FV-feeder has an integrated weighing system and will stop the filling of material when the required amount has been filled into the oven. It will then return to its original position. The FV-feeder is motorized and can feed multiple ovens as it is placed on a rotating table that can turn 90 degrees.

Complete monitoring in a waste incineration power plant in England
Rotary vane sensors and radar sensors for complete control in the Waste-to-Energy Power Plant In a beautiful part of the UK, a waste-to-energy plant required a complete level control solution across the site. The Challenge In order to streamline the whole supply chain process for this, the customer sought one supplier who could provide a one-stop source of advice, expertise and products. The UWT UK team was able to do this by establishing a trusted relationship with the customer giving them security and certainty and of course total efficiency throughout the consultative process through to device installation. The Solution The whole application involved identifying the right products for both continuous and point level monitoring throughout the plant. For the point level measurement of fly ash within the filtration systems, various bespoke configurations of the Rotonivo® - RN 3002 rotary paddle level switch and the Mononivo® - MN 4030 vibrating rod were installed for the point level measurement of fly ash in the filter systems. It was important for

Additional hall for Solids & Recycling-Technik Dortmund
Solids & Recycling-Technik Dortmund trade fairs expand and open an additional hall for 9 and 10 October 2024 The interest in exhibition space at the Solids & Recycling-Technik trade fairs in Dortmund shows no sign of abating. The previously planned halls are already fully booked for the upcoming event on 9 and 10 October 2024. That’s why the organiser Easyfairs has quickly gone one better and added an additional hall. Additional lecture stages, a central business bar and the start-up area are located in the new hall and will also ensure a high level of knowledge transfer and optimal networking opportunities. Despite the larger total area, the distances between the neighbouring halls remain short and all highlights are easy to reach. ”Even now, almost ten months before the start of the trade fair, more than ten per cent more exhibitors than at the last event have secured a place at the next Solids & Recycling-Technik Dortmund,” says Anna Lena Sandmann, organiser at Easy¬fairs Deutschland GmbH, who is delighted with the healthy growth. Three halls are already fully

Capacitive level measurement technology for detection of crude oil
For the implementation of a reliable level limit measurement within lubricating oil pipelines of tyre production, the limited space situation as well as high material viscosity had to be considered in particular. Level limit measurement in pipelines with lubricating oil One of the largest global tyre manufacturers needed a reliable point level sensor to measure the level in a 3” tube with lubricating oil in their subsidiary in Argentina. Due to the viscosity of the material, not every measuring principle works in this installation situation. The crude oil has a DK value between 2 and 3, the process pressure can be up to 0.8 bar (11.6 psi) and the process temperature up to 80 °C (176 °F). In addition, there is a high moisture content with condensate within the atmosphere. In this case, the ideal solution was UWT’s Capanivo® CN 7000 capacitive point level sensor. The sensor has a ½” stainless steel thread and a PPS probe. The integrated active build-up compensation prevents incorrect switching due to material adhesion around the probe. Its reduced installation length ensured optimal implementation within the 3” pipe. Together with the local partner KDK - CIA ARGENTINA
